not too impressed with the 06 325i
I suppose "slow" is a relative term. Compared to most cars on this board, a 325 is slow. If you're coming from a typical commuter car such as a 4 cylinder Camry or Accord, then the 325 will feel quick, by comparison.
Many things in life are a compromise, and the cars we choose are no exception. If you want a sportier ride, you're giving up "comfort" when driving over those expansion joints on the highway. If you want power seats, power sunroof, power windows, 4 doors, and other "luxury" features, you're adding weight to the car and the nimbleness will suffer. Do you want 500hp (and who doesn't)? Then you'll pay at the pump.
The 325 is a good compromise car in the sense that it's reasonably quick, has great handling for a sedan (especially with the sport suspension), is relatively affordable, seats 5, and has great build quality. Are you going to win stop light drag races? Unlikely, but you'll still enjoy the well-rounded package.
The 330 is more powerful, and while it's noticeable it is not a night & day difference. The 328 vs 335 for the '07 sedans opens the gap a bit and makes you drool for those twin turbos, but the fact remains that this is still just a daily driver for most people. Park a smaller, lighter, more powerful car next to it in the garage for weekends and spirited drives, and let the daily driver happily transport you to work.
Everyone likes something different, otherwise we'd all be driving the same car and married to the same woman
