5 series getting a Face-Lift next spring?

Test drove the new CLS 550 and an '07 550i today and decided to get the 550. But I just happened to overhear something about a facelift scheduled for next spring to which the sales woman scoffed at such a rumor.

Anybody heard anything about this?

Drove the CLS first and although we both liked the looks with the AMG package(just wheels, skirts & spoilers - not the AMG overhaul), the drive was uninspiring. Especially when going into corners, it felt like the car was taking control and slowing down. I now realize that it was most likely the resistance of the transmission(similar to Porsche automatics) that I was feeling slowing the car down rahter than just coasting.

That was the number one thing I didn't like. A smaller advantage of the 550 was that the rear head room in the CLS was pretty limiting. I could sit in the back seat (6'1" - 180#) and my hair(or what's left up there)was tickling the headliner which was quite annoying. Chances are hardly anybody will sit back there but we are tinkering with the idea of starting the family and although the CLS is pre-rigged to secure an infant seat in the back - we felt it was a little tight. Which of course was expected since this is basically a coupe with four doors but I was hoping because we really like the looks and you don't see many CLS's around.

By the way, this car is for my wife and not me. Overall, she didn't have any great emotions about either but we've been nothing but elated with our current BMW and the service that we've received.

The other part of the rumor that I overheard was that it's possible the I-drive may dissappear or atleast be a deletable option in next spring's makeover so pending any news - I think we are going to wait and see.....

It's very likely, and I've noticed that BMW salespeople seem to be pretty clueless about updates and changes to their model line. Don't know why...

That adequately describes every mercedes I've ever driven.

Ooo... that's exciting. Perhaps, although I haven't heard anything about it...
