I know how well the transmission and clutch in the 6 speed can hold up to power, but what about the SMG? I don't know that much about SMG so can anyone clue me in as far as how it compares to the manual transmission?

IIRC,
The manual transmission and SMG are exactly the same unit.
Obviously the SMG has the computer controlling the clutch however...

So theoreticallly they should be able to handle the same power, unless there is something in the computer controlling of the clutch/shifting that causes the transmission to be weaker.

Hmm, therefore you can upgrade the clutch as you see fit? I need to read up more on the composition of the SMG transmission.

Yes the clutch/flywheel are upgradeable on the SMG M3's.. Thing is it all depends on how far power wise you want to go, Jerry with his stg 3/ nitrous Pheonix Yellow M3 had his smg pump fail more then once I believe, and not being able to control/modulate the clutch makes it had to put the power down, 6spd is an easy winner in efficiency IMO!

I see, I suppose 6spd will be the way to go in that case.
