Brake upgrade complete

Brakes are done. Went from stock non s or anything to 993T's up front and S models in the rear. 125 miles of break in period and now they can throw you through the window. Rears required the upgrading of the parking brake shoes and some other fun things. After it was all done I aligned it to my own spec for the cherry on top. Auto X awaits.

Was the 993T a 4 piston or 6 piston setup? was it a direct bolt on? Your 993T calipers looks a lot like my 996 C2 Calipers...I'm really liking the floating rotors....

The front 993’s differ just a bit in from the 996, in the way the pad clip works. They are still 4 piston all the way around which helps maintain similar brake fluid capacities and therefore not change the peddle stroke. ABS also works perfectly, and it works more frequently seeing how those brakes can skid just about any tire on any surface if you get on them too hard. It has also been very cold and rainy around here lately. Surprisingly I feel that they require less peddle modulation and thought even when really driving hard. You just press down with the same pressure every time and everything just seems to work. The pad with the 4 piston setup I think tend to make more squeaking at low speed then the more broken up wider pad of the 6 piston. The front rotors did require a different hat to be installed to work with the bolt pattern/ retaining screw. They are made by evo ms and are aluminum so a pound or two savings there over the standard steel ones. The fronts were just simple bolt on. The rears were a bit more fun.

I had to get an adapter kit from FVD to make the e-brake shoes work with the larger rear rotors, as well as spacers to mount the caliper with the proper clearance. To fit on the new e-brake backing plates you must remove the hub since the backing plate will not fit over or around it. I completely forgot about that when I went to install. I ended up taking off the rear hubs carrier and pressing in new bearings since the old ones fell apart upon removal of the hub. The FVD kit was not quite bolt on either. The inner part of the backing plate is not chamfered properly to seat all the way down when installed. Easily fixed with a die grinder but still just another hiccup in a long days install. I also went with the stainless lines which make a considerable difference.

There is no more brake fade! The brakes are more then up to anything that can be thrown at them. My experience at FVD was still great from a customer service standpoint. Obviously the adapters took a little fine tuning but it was nothing out of the ordinary when dealing with aftermarket parts. I would still recommend them. Steve over at Suncoast also was a really big help. After all the new parts, alignment, and checking the torque on all the suspension pieces in the rear it feel like a brand new car. Only with even better brakes.
