Is this legit?

Looking at a 06 Boxster S, seller wants to use CTS Capital escrow, cheque is sent to CTS not him.

Says I have 5 days to inspect, test and decide if I want to keep it. If rejected escrow refunds payment to me, funds only released to him after I instruct escrow to do so.

Has anyone dealt with this escrow company or done a transaction like this?

Car is a 06 Boxster S fir 32K, which seems low to me, says he has relocated to UK and car is at his place in Cali, offered to have a relative in florida to fly out and show me the car once payment is confirmed by escrow, this way he knows I'm a serious buyer, says his friend went out once before and buyer was a no show?

What do i do?

It sounds VERY fishy to me. I had the same story with a mercedes I tried to buy a few years ago. The only reason Ifound out is because I searched the VIN and another person posted on a forum that they had been scammed. CTS Capital Escrow doesn't even look like a legit sight. I wouldn't send a penny.

If it is real, tell the man you will give a certified check to his relative when you fly to california to pick the car up. An airline ticket should be enough to prove you plan to go there.

Thanks for all your input guys, as much as i would like to have this car, we all know how the saying goes" If it sounds too good to be true...It probably is!"

Goes to show, a little due diligance, and a little help from your friends may have saved me from making a horrible mistake.

Instead of having something I so desire, I could have been left with a deep hole in my pocket with nothing to show for, better safe than sorry, a gamble I cant afford to take.

Thanks again guys, if nothing else, maybe another potential victim will come across this thread and be spared as well.

BTW, so others are aware, the car is a Speed Yellow 2006 Boxster S, 10k miles, black interior and 20" Techart silver wheels, VIN# WP0CB29836S730266, in all fairness, in case this seller is actually legit, and I don't wan't intentionally drive away his buyers if he is, I wont post his name or number, but if anyone else has a similar experience or happens to be looking a this perticular car, feel free to PM me to verify his story and I can give you the contact name and info he gave me.

To all a good night!

Definitely not legit. There have been several posts in the last couple weeks on local for sale boards with the exact same story. All too good to be true prices on various sports cars that the guy has to sell cheap because he's relocated to the UK.

I know people who have done the escrow thing, and it does work for some people; however, this sounds fishy. You should pick the escrow service if anything.
