Central Locking System stuck to lock

I have a boxster 99. My car got rained heavily and all of a sudden my alarm went off. The driver seat floor had an inch of water.

The car wont:
Start
Remote key wont work
Windows
Trunk realease
Central locking system wont turn off

After drying the floor for several hours, the car went back to sort of normal. The Central Locking System is stuck to arm. I cannot disarm by pressing the rocker switch, my key remote dosent work and hood/trunk release wont work.

Any advise is greatly appreciated..

Check your fault codes via the OBDII port with a scanner... Though from what you described, looks like your car's alarm/immobilizer unit may have gotten damaged with the water flood. That unit is located underneath your driver's seat. The symptoms you described are all closely related to what the immobilizer/alarm unit controls.

Thanks for the response..

Right now the car is in the garage and a fan will be running all night. Just want to make sure that its all dry.

How much do you think a new unit would cost or to repair it?

I'm not sure how much a new unit would be, though there is a fuse on the immobilizer unit that you might want to check first...easiest if you take the driver seat out. Another thing is, don't buy a used immob. unit, since from what I understand, these are coded to each individual car and cannot be recoded.

You might want to get scanned by a PST2 system to diagnose it...

Hope this helps...

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a little while and then reconnecting to clear the system?

chaud is correct, sounds as if your immobilizer has been damaged. This is roughly a 500 dollar part and is a fairly simple replacement if it turns out to not just be the fuse. I'd start there and hope something in the wiring has not been compromised.

You guys are right. Water got into the computer unit under the driver side seat. My mechanic checked it all out and the unit was soaked. New computer cost about $500 plus labour.

My insurance company is going to cover the damage. I just have to pay my deductable.

Without my car for a few days and missing it already...LOL

Thanks everybody for the responses. Greatly appreciated..
