Wheel Rant/Poll

This forum seems to get almost weekly notifications from several different sponsors posting up wheels for sale. These post often include photo's (which is nice) but almost always fail to include very important spec and construction info.

My question to these sponsors (as I said there are several) is why?

Any purchaser with half a brain about wheels will want to know the following.
  1. Wheel sizes
  2. Wheel widths
  3. Wheels offsets
  4. Wheel weights
  5. Wheel construction (cast or forged), (single piece or multi piece).
Maybe it's just me but I often find that if someone omits relevant details for a sale they are trying to hide something.

Am I the only one that is bothered by this?

angman is infamous around these parts
I agree, posting all specs would certainly make a sale go much smoother and probably a lot less PMs and posts.

The weight is very important! Unsprung weight is times 4 for saving.

pehaps they don't put all of the specs because they want a chance to talk to you and make a sale.

but, i agree more info would be great!

Maybe we should have a Master thread with:
  1. Wheel Type
  2. Wheel Photo and application ie the type of car the wheels are fitted to (just one photo not 20 showing how good they look and that you can use photoshop and get discount from the wheel supplier for overlaying his ad)
  3. Wheel Size (Front and Rear (F/R))
  4. Wheel Widths (F/R)
  5. Wheels offsets (F/R)
  6. Wheel weights (F/R)
  7. Wheel construction (cast or forged), (single piece or multi piece)
  8. Wheel cost that you paid
  9. Tire size that you are running
  10. Other info ie Needs coilovers to allow fitting etc
However, no 3rd party posts including manufacturer, wheel supplier. No for sale posts and definitely no 'fan boy' posts you know the ones that are obviously biased to a specific company

Also note that the list does not include 'how the ride felt' type posts as this will make the post long and come over as trying to sell the rims

I agree. And for those not well versed in wheel fitment specs (like me), it would be even nicer if they could tell you if the wheels would require spacers in the front or rear to fit your specific model.
