Cayman all the way. The driving experience in a Cayman and even a Boxster is so much more fun for twisties then the C4s or even my 997.

Very hard to say, I think I would be slower at first and then be able to keep up. Btw we are all getting point-bys from other 996's and 997's and we pass other Caymans like they are standing still, though there are a few 996's that run the same as us.

We have run and moved up in the same runs groups for past 2 years so I believe they are just as good of a driver as me.

Well in that case, it sounds like you are all enjoying your cars equally on the track. Stalemate!

make sure you get PASM on the Cayman.

if you get a C4S - go for 2004 as no glove box in earlier versions. small point but they are handy!

Sorry but your wrong about that. There is no difference between a 02 and any other model, except the radio. The newer models has fibre optic connections. PIA in my opinion.

Why dont you need PASM in the Cayman S? My SA told me that it stiffens the suspension by lowering 10mm. It was noticible when I was driving on a bumpy bridge. Is it really not worth it?

i feel as though with PASM you dont need to and will rarely change settings all that much. the stock suspension on the cayman is very good, with no roll and grips perfectly. its one of very few cars ive ever driven where i didnt think it needed coilovers or at least lowered to cut out some of the body roll.
another thing...one magazine i read a while back was saying they feel at though the 911 without PASM is a more compliant ride than one with PASM.

My suggestion would be a 2006 Carrera 4. You get the 997 body style, interior, the VarioCam Plus, big wide butt.
Good luck in which ever way you choose. I've driven a lot of cars and the Cayman S just doesn't have the low end Tq. and grunt power that you get with the 997

I had the same questions before buying my C4S. I'd wanted the Cayman S for some time, but always enjoyed the look of the C4S, as others have said. What finally turned me to the C4S was the interior space and the sunroof. And the low-end torque. The Cayman interior felt too cramped for me to use as a daily driver. And this is after many, many years in a 911SC just about every day. So I suppose it comes down to personal taste, intended use, interior comfort, and all the other subjective points that might come to mind. Either way, you can't go wrong. Good luck, good hunting, and be sure to report back with your decision.

Its all preference. I loveeeee the C4S (always have)...gorgeous red on tan parked next to me at the office the other day...i still think the cayman S is hard to match in terms of feel for any car, no matter what they make.
