Installed EVO Intake, Holy Crap!
Installed EVO Intake, Holy Crap!
I installed the EVO intake last night. I really wanna thank my buddy Matt (member: porschefan1013) for all his help. Wow, was it an ordeal! It was the hardest easy job I've ever done! I think the install time rounded out to about 5 hours.
Taking everything out was a nightmare. The stock Airbox was a PITA. I ended up having to cut it out. But when it came to putting everything back together, the job went rather smoothly and have no problems once everything was back in place. The sound is nice and alot smother through the revs. All and all it was worth it. But seriously, an intake should not require this:

My mechanic took about an hour to install mine (2001 Boxster S) - but I let him cut up the old air box to make it easier to remove. I noticed only a slight performance increase at higher RPMs.
The real change came a few weeks later with headers and a performance chip. I found that, when making these kinds of mods it's important to remap the ECU so the engine knows it can breathe better. I tested a couple of 996 C4Ss last week and my car could leave them for dead.

Yeah, I agree. Its an easier job than that. Shouldnt have had to hack up the air box like that.
