Sports Chrono?

Does sports chrono just include new engine mapping? Is it of any use for the street or only the track? Does it include any suspension changes? For instance, does sports chrono necessarily mean that you have PASM?

Sport Chrono package consists of the stopwatch on the dash as well as the sport button near the shifter. Once the sport button is pushed the gas pedal becomes 25 more responsive to you, the PSM will hesitate before assisting your movements, and if the car is equipped with PASM it will automatically turn it on. Especially on a Cayman S it makes a world of difference. If it is a tiptronic it will be much more aggressive with the shifting pattern. You are able to use it on the track or in everyday use. I have Sport Chrono in my car and it makes everything more responsive and more fun to drive.

the throttle mapping is easy to feel on the foot.

the extension of when PSM hits is alos a nice change from the C4S. gives a nice little slide when goosing with cool tires!

Had it on a C2S and def used it on the street, throttle just felt more responsive. I personally can't compare it to a non sport chrono non PASM car though, perhaps you can find one to test drive to see if you feel it is worth it.

I just wish the sport would stay on until you turn it off instead of resetting itself everytime you shut the engine down. They improvement in throttle response in addicting.

Sport Mode

If You Get The Softronic ECU Flash you can Have it Include the Sport Feature even if your car did not come with The Sport Chrono ..and Its On ALL THE TIME ,and you get 15 HP increase or 25HP With The New High Flow Flash (If You have an aftermarket Exhaust).

The value of SC, if any, is subjective. I haven't had my Cayman S on track yet, but I had a 997S, and found the SC throttle setting was just too sensitive for my taste. When keeping the car balanced through a turn with throttle input, I found it more difficult with SC, and stopped using it after a few experiments. The SC's higher threshhold for PSM might suit some drivers, but I didn't find it of value. If I do a good job of driving smoothly, PSM seldom activates in either mode. All this stuff depends on driving style and specific track demands. I assume autocross folks always run without PSM, since it would be intrusive on a very tight, lower speed autocross course. I've talked to drivers who prefer the SC mode on track, but the majority of experienced drivers with whom I have spoken, do not prefer it.
