PDK Transplant

Runin2rich describes it exactly. Went up to the Collection yesterday where I met with the Regional PCNA after sales manager (not sure if he was there just for this or not). Nobody allowed to touch the bad PDK after the initial look-see until it is sent to the examiners in Germany. From first look they say it looks like a foreign material (maybe sealant) got inside the PDK.

I must say I'm impressed by PCNA's attention, but really impressed that the Collection is being so attentive. The Collection's service manager also sat in on the meeting. We left in a Cayenne S until the car is ready. Remeber I didn't buy the car at the Collection.

Pretty happy so far, except for the fact that the Collection sells Ferraris and my wife chained herself to a F430:-)

In regards to tires - 18" stock on 5 spoke wheels. It's a daily driver (ATL to Key West transport) and I'm really tired of replacing P-Zeros on my last 2 Porsches. Rides nice on the 18's without PASM.

Here's a bad iphone pic of the little lady...

The Porsche stereo is like the Corvette seat, a joke (Vette also has a much better stereo).

in my experience, Porsche dealers don't repair major engine issues or open up transmissions; just swap them out...not bad actually...as far as getting a new car goes, that depends on state lemon laws...

drytoruga,

I see you had a PDK failure and it was replaced. Sorry to read that. Unfortunately the same thing happened to me three days ago within the same time frame as you and it is a 2010 base cayman. The car is at the dealership and porsche headquarters is helping Tischer Porsche(dealership I purchased from) troubleshoot the issue. From to to finish how long was your car out of commission? How long did it take the dealership to diagnosis the problem and Porsche say it was okay to replace the PDK? After the the work was approved how long did it take to get it back.

Thanks in advance,

dave-t

Well porsche is replacing my PDK under warranty. I found out this morning that they were able to locate a new one in California. I live in Virginia. The dealer will have the PDK on Monday and start the reinstall. Hopefully they don't find anything else wrong with the car after the test drive.
