Question Please help - 09 boxster S 1st wash

Hello all,
I got my new 2009 Boxster S last Tuesday; it’s a great ride to be honest, I did wash it today for the first time, sprayed it with water hose and dry it out. The car was parked all day under shade so car temp was same as outside temp also brakes temp was as outside temp. I didn’t move it except 10 meters reversing to the front gate to wash it and brought it back in. yes I did spray the rims.
Now after 5 hours, I turned the car on and reversed to go outside for few meters, when I pressed the brake pedal; the brake sounds as it has a real rough surface. As something is scratching a lot!!
Is that’s normal? Even after 5 hours wash? Or is there is a problem? This is my 1st Porsche and sports car so please provide me with your experience. The company told me not to wash it when the brakes hot and I didn’t move it all day specially so I can wash it while its not hot.
Thanks all in advance.

It's just the brake pads rubbing the surface rust on the rotors, nothing to worry about.

I don't understand why they would tell you not to wash the car when the brakes are hot. It is no differant than driving your car in the rain or driving to the local car wash

Shooting hot brakes with water can cool rotors too quickly and unevenly , which can lead to warped rotors.

In the rain... brake temperatures are typically uniformly lower, but running through a puddle of water absolutely can warp rotors.

Here's a good summation of metal quenching -- under "non-uniform cooling."

I've heard of warping rotors by standing on the brake at a standstill for too long, (or in the rain as the ambient temps cool the exposed area of the rotor while the area under the pads rise). My old auto shop teacher from HS once told me you can warp rotors if you're on the brake and come to a stop in the middle of a turn -- though I can't reason a cause with the forces in action... but my shop teacher was awesome... so it must be true.

Its normal....even cold rotors can rust a bit after a wash! It will go away after a few stops. I have washed my Porsche stone cold....pul it right back into the garage and noticed that the rotors lightly "froze" to the pads.

Some manufacturers explains this, others don't. High performance breaks rust very quickly after washing. Look at the disc after a few minutes.

The best way to care for this is to follow directions you have, but add driving short distance and ride the breaks to warm up and wipe away excess moisture. Then park on a level surface without setting the parking break.

My DB9 would sometimes have the parking break stick if I failed to follow the above procedure.
