Mods for an 06 Boxster s

Hi new the forum, im looking for advice on performance mods and shops in So Cal area. I would like to maintain the everyday drivability but would like a bit more performance. I just traded in my 05 S4 cabrio for the Porsche and loving it.

Try planet-9.com and do a search. My 05 BS has headers, cat-back exhaust, tune, underdrive pulley and on my bed is a lightweightflywheel. Bilsteins are lovely, ride is firm. Hope that helps.

I think what you'll find out of the box with you Boxster S is that the acceleration is on par with your S4 (V8). You'll also find the handling better in the Boxster S due to lighter weight and mid-engine design. For me, since the Boxster is nearly perfect out of the box, I didn't really want to mess with the suspension (though less of a wheel/fender gap would be nice). So, I started with exhaust to give the Boxster a sportier sound. Don't get me wrong, the stock exhaust sounds good. It's almost as good as the exhaust system in my A4. But I really wanted something meaner in the Boxster. In addition, I also got a good deal (at $497) on the DME chip from FVD. I wasn't going to do a chip, as gains on normally aspirated cars aren't as noticeable as in turbo engines. However, FVD was/is running a sale, so I jumped at the opportunity. Now, the Boxster is not only fast(er), but also sounds fantastic when you are winding up the rpms. I believe FVD is still running the special (chip alone, and chip + exhaust). Shoot an email over to Rhonda @ FVD (rhonda@fvd.us) and check with her.

BTW, you'll have to post some pix of your car... or at least share the configuration.

Enjoy your Boxster S!

Thanks for the replies. Quite honestly I'm a bit worried that flashing the ECU
might mess up the engines reliability, mind you
I have never even replaced the exhast system on any of my cars.
I think I'm going to start with the exhaust system, can I expect
any performance boost fro that ??

ECU tuning won't really mess up engine reliability, if you stick with a high octane fuel grade - in most basic form, the tune modifies the timing to give that little gain. I really like upgrading the exhaust to give the car better sound. I mean, it hits your senses directly.... each time you push down on the gas pedal... you hear it. Once you find an exhaust tone that you like... you just want to listen to the engine/exhaust sing every time you drive the car. As far as gain... most systems on the market today claims to yield between 5 - 15whp. But the sound...
