Nice find, thanks for posting! Yet another rave review about the Spyder.

Really cool video. The new Spyder looks crazy. I just joined this site, it's great to find a forum like this for motor enthusiasts. Anybody know any other forums I should join?

thanks for sharing that video. While I absolutely adore the Boxster Spyder I have to say that I love what the Tesla brings to the table. New technology is alway's exciting and the lack of emissions is wonderful, but I would be lost without that boxer 6 sound!

I want to punch that guy in the face when he's in the Spyder talking about the environment.

^ ditto. i wonder where the electricity came from to charge those lithium fuel cells, and where we were going to dispose of those batteries when they're done? I guess if you're a celebrity you can start your own windmill to make your own electricity for your tesla so you can achieve the george clooney environmentally smug status.

jones52725 Feb 24, 2010 03:28 PM

Ya, even with everything the Tesla brings to the table, you simply can't replace or duplicate the sound of the Boxster

Great video. Every time I see that Spyder I want it more and more. Check out the latest Car & Driver. The reviews just get more and more glowing. As far as other web sites and forums check out Planet 9 and PPBB.

You cant get any kind of energy without an effect. Cause and effect is always there.

As for wind generated electricity; it is not without environmental hazards. Walk at the base of one of these farms and watch you don't step in the bird carcasses. In addition you need to cover three states to supply NY city. Seems real easy to sell to average idiots however any decent engineer will tell you that nuclear power is the most power for the least effect.

As for the man made global warning. There is more on this story to come. George Carlen had it right.

prices aside, i'd take tesla hands down. it's a great handling car that is much faster.

spyder's marketing is flawed IMO. we need a real Boxster RS and Cayman RS. the goofy tent-like top just doesnt make much sense. plus there is no AC. I'd cook on the track during summer without AC.

from energy cost or environment perspective, power plant is much cleaner than car engines. the battery can be recycled. tesla wins hands down. it's not like someone would dispose the used battery into land fill.

i think the only things the porsche has over tesla are price, sound and reliability / durability. comparing the two is like comparing an automatic vs quartz watch. quartz keeps better time but eventually will break. an automatic watch will run much longer with proper service.

1. The "goofy tent top" is an integral contribution to weight savings.
2. A/C is an option. You knew that, right? Or no? +40lbs A/C, -40lbs with PCCB = net 0

Without worldwide carbon emission restriction, all this talk about electric being so much cleaner is mental masturbation and so much BS.

I will take the Spyder with no hesitation or doubt. Save batteries for golf carts.

I think the Tesla is on a lotus exige chasis. Tesla wants to take all the credit, as they seldom will mention Lotus.

Also, its carbon footprint increases once it runs out of juice after two 20 minute track sessions and then needs to be towed by a V8.

Oh, and it cost carbon to make the tow vehicle and trailer.

The Tesla is a neat vehicle, but with the above issues, an electric sports car falls short on its claimed carbon footprint and utility.

Hahaha no doubt. By the time the effects of "anti-green" vehicles come into effect, we'll all be gone and it'll be someone else's problem. Electric sports car is a fail

What were the lap times for Tesla and the Boxster?

6speedRob Feb 28, 2010 07:49 AM

The Tesla is a cool science experiment that you can buy but history will show it to be nothing more than that. The Spyder is a cool real car.

The fact that there is no range extenders on the Tesla relegates it to toy status. To see how to do this vehicle right look at the evora 414e concept at Geneva.

Regardless I'd take the spyder in a heartbeat.
