Help removing AC vents in ’05 987

Greetings all.

Both “outer” interior AC vents are defective (common ’05 issue, the two inner AC vents were replaced under warrantee). Is anyone aware of a DIY for removing these vents? I am going to try to repair them.

Thanks much and all the best,

Matt (in MA)

The vents are best repaired in situ, removal is very difficult without a special tool as all 4 tangs need to be held whilst pulling the vent forward. Best to use long nose plyers and a small allen key to refit the plastic tag back into into the slider. Hold the tag with plyers and use the allen key to pull the tag back into the slider mechanism.

Berty -

Thanks for the reply. I will give it a shot. I know there is some little "spring" component that also fell out.

Best,
