Boxster vs S2000
Quite true as I have had both. Just got back from trip with the Boxster and was dropping off for service and was picking up Range Rover. Had to put the seats down in the Rover to in order to unload all the stuff from the Boxster.

Having spent the last 6.5 years driving an 04 S2000 daily, and loving every minute of it, I'll chime in. The trunk was surprisingly usefull, a weeks worth of groceries easily fit in it, 2 cases of wine plus some soft luggage was also an easy fit. Rock solid reliable as well. It was recently totaled in a hit and run accident on the freeway however, leaving me to shop for a replacement.
Enter a 2005 987 S, with just 14k miles. PASM + Chrono + Adaptive Sport Seats + 19's.
I've driven 986's in the past, and honestly while they do something better than the S2K, I always felt the S2000 was superior. I can't say that about my 987. In fact, other than the shifter and intital turn-in response, I think the 987 S is a mile ahead of the S2K. Chassis rigidity seems to be remakably improved over the 986, to the point where it at least equals the S2000. Nicer interior quality, vastly improved switchgear and materials, perhaps the best seats on the planet short of an F-22, a very nice insulated top (S2000's top while well made, is only a single layer).
The torque is addictive, top end power is very good, and the flat six growl never gets old.
As good as the S2000 brakes are, the 987 S brakes are simple breathtaking. I can't wait for my first AutoX in the car to fully experience their stopping ability.
In short, the S2000 is an amazing car for the money, and an easy rival to the 986's in my mind. The 987 is on another level in most areas, and to my mind superior both on the track and as a daily driver.

I really enjoyed my S2k and while it was a hassle at times, it was totally manageable as a DD for me at the time. I knew I was moving around 750 miles and I knew that the S2k was not the right car for me to do that in, so I am taking a pitstop with the Si, but am eager to get back into something really fun again!
having now driven both cars ("babysat" an S2000 for a friend that was out of town for 6 months a couple years ago), I'll say that the s2k feels a lot more "raw" than the boxster.
Not really that it's unrefined or anything, but that it's closer to what that true open roadster used to be. You feel everything in that car, for the good and bad. The boxster does an excellent job of isolating you from the bad, while still giving you great road feedback.
I didn't feel like every filling was about to come out of my head when I hit a large pothole doing 70 in the boxster. In the Honda, it probably would have caused spine damage.
Power between the two I feel was about on par. The pcar is more fresh in my mind, though, and I think I'm over-remembering the honda.
S2K is an amazing car for the money, and it's sad that honda stopped making them, but the 987s is definitely a nicer car to drive, and my money would go to one any day.
