Advice Needed: Purchasing Cayman S Tom..
Hey guys, long time lurker... Currently have an 08 M3 and love it, but love Porsches even more.. I just need some input:
My mom/dad have been looking for a Cayman for a while now, and we found one today. Its an 08 Cayman S, 13k miles, nav, heated seats, and couple other options.. Thyere offering to sell it at 46k to us with everything (tax, title, etc.) Its a BMW dealer, so its As-is no extended warranty.. If im not mistaken, standard warranty is 4 years right? and i did notice the nav have an option with yookoo or something like that, im assuming thats the bluetooth right? Any input or advice is appreciated, thanks a lot fellahs!

46k after taxes isn't bad at all. i don't know how your taxes are, but over here it's 9% so that really helps. yea, the standard warranty is 4yr, 50,000mi, whichever comes first. depends on you other options, but you probably have the Preferred package if you have the Heated Seats options. i don't know about bluetooth in an '08, but someone else can confirm that.
See if the dealer has the window sticker - that'll get you the list of options. If not, you may be able to find a dealer nice enough to do a look up with the VIN. They'll be able to get you the options list - probably not sticker price. Try one of the forum sponsoring Porsche dealers here as well. Suncoast or Sunset Porsche are both very helpful. There are also online owner manuals so you can brush up on the various features available on the car, like how BT works. I believe if you have Nav, you also have BT. If you have the clock on dash, you also have the sport chrono pkg as well - better throttle response. G'luck!
It's not a bad price, and if you want to add Ipod and bluetooth having a Nav makes it a lot easier (DICE etc.). I had both the E92 M3 and Cayman, and like you like the Porsche a lot more. It may have less power, but the overall driving experience is a lot more satisfying.
from what ive seen on this site/planet-9/ebay/autotrader/craigslist/cars.com im pretty confident that its a good buy. the owner had tooki installed in it as well from what i saw (didnt know wth that hell before i read about it here) but looks like i would have to be updating it since i couldnt get it to connect with my iphone (just have to use a windows xp based laptop with bluetooth to update right?) other than that its a good color combo, has nav and is tiptronic, seems like thats one of the hardest combos to find, heated seats, colored wheel emblems, and upgraded exhaust tips. just need to get a warranty now and hope nothing goes wrong!
