Looking to purchase a 2006 Boxster
Hi all,
I'm new here, but I've been looking to get a boxster for quite some time now. I'm looking at one right now that is giong for $24k with about 35k miles on it. Its in white and looks to be a fair condition, nothing glaringly wrong with it.
My question to you all are, what kind of issues should I look out for when getting an older 987? Also, did the 6 speed stick only come on the Boxster S models? I haven't found a 6 speed non S yet.
It it worth it to buy a warranty for this type of vehicle?
I'm also considering a white 2007 BMW 328i Coupe, that has less miles 28k, but its also asking the same price. It has the sport package, and a moonroof.
Any comparisons between the two?
Thanks all, I appreciate your comments.

6 speed only comes on the S. Get the S over the standard Boxster.
I bought a 2005 S about 5 months ago and love it.
I would recommend an extended warranty. Mine cost $130 a month for 3 year/36K.
Had to use it once on the water pump and it was covered no problem.
I bought a Fidelity warranty through my local Porsche dealer, but didn't get the car there.
Great car. Lots of fun.

The Boxster is a true roadster while the 3series you still can fit freinds in the back. If you can handle not having backseats the 987 is the better car. Both are indeed reat cars but the fun factor and handling of the 987 is top notch for $24k. Before you buy anything used have a ppi done at your local dealership to know exactly whats going on with the vehicle etc. GL and keep us updated.

How much is a PPi at a local dealership?
@onlineformals: I'd like to get an S, but I haven't found one with low miles yet for 24k. Do you think this is a realistic target for a 2005-2006 987 Boxster S?
@steve: I like both cars for the same reason, they handle great, while still getting reasonable gas mileage and I really like the styling of both cars (more so on the 3 series coupe). I have no need for a back seat, yet.
