Power Steering meltdown on '06 Boxster S

I'm looking for suggestions on the best power steering cooling system for my '06 Boxster S. The dealer has removed the check valve and still having problems. Even a half day at the track is too much for my car. 3rd ps pump, lines, reservoir replaced in 2 years. Dealer recommends a cooler. Thoughts?

Don't you just need an Underdrive Pulley???

Mantis Racing have a track Cayman S, you can certainly call them and speak to them if you have any questions.

Melting.......

Do you think the pulley alone will do the trick? BBI makes one, RSS and I've seen articles about the ESR but can't see where to buy it. Any recommendations on any of these? I thought the combination of the underdrive and an inline cooler may be the best. If you think the pulley alone will work, maybe I'll try it first.

I use the BBI underdrive pulley, i think it helps, but it won't solve the problem completely. many insulate the power steering lines, especially the ones near the exhaust where you will get more heat. I'm also planning on adding a power steering cooler. The best way to do it is to go with an electric PS replacement, but it can be costly.

A few thoughts:
The tires you are running make a big difference. 285 Hoosiers on the front will generate steering forces 10x higher than stock 205 PS2s. I have been running 255 NT-01s for 3 years and no problems with an UD pulley and long, slow, cooldown laps.

Adding a UD pulley cooler & insulation will go a long way towards solving the problem.

A less well known but equally effective tactic is to simply use your right foot to rotate the car with minimum steering input. Less steering input=less heat buildup. It is also faster

Check out this article from European Car.

http://www.europeancarweb.com/featur...era/index.html

On 2nd page:
Since these cars are known to boil the stock system under hard track use (think plastic reservoir soufflé), the original power steering has been removed in its entirety and replaced with an electric-assist unit from a GT3 RSR. The control unit was installed up front beneath the boot lid along with a lightweight Braille battery. With a lighter BBI underdrive pulley further slowing down accessory operations, this upgrade alone was able to net some 10 hp throughout the powerband. (The BBI pulley is good for a claimed 8 whp by itself.)
