You can spend your money on exhaust and a tune and intake with plenum but none of these mods will get you anywhere close to doing 0-60mph in low 4's high 3's. Hate to be the party pooper but your driving one of the best handling cars in the world not the fastest so embrace the handling for all it's worth.

There a number of Porsche dealerships that will keep the warranty intact, even with substantial modifications, such as larger turbos.

who picks up the bill for a new blown turbo motor ? 2 dealers around here say i cant put in an aftermarket AOS without zappin the warranty. what dealers ,fine print etc ?

Maybe some adjustable shocks, coilovers? if you are going that route :D

Arn't these
2. GT3 lower control arms (Tarett)
3. Monoballs, drop links, rear toe control arms (Tarret)

Track specific Items ?
Sway bars -deffinately ;)

You work for Tarret?

I do not work for Tarett :D but the owner there (Ira) has been fantastic to work with and honest and forthcoming about specifics which are very hard to find elsewhere. If you are going to be tweaking anti-roll bars you need to know diameters and pinch point widths and plot different bars on a graph to properly engineer a solution. So I have to give credit for their help on my RS and Spyder and for working with me to engineer a custom, stiffer rear bar for my Spyder. The products are very high quality and the customer service is amazing.

At one point I thought the monoball and spherical end pieces were track items, but after getting my RS decked out, I found there were no negatives and all positives. Ride quality was not harmed, and steering feel and driving dynamics were greatly improved. Look at the new GT2RS specs- OE rose jointed suspension pieces. If it compromised ride or durability, they would not have done it. Taking the slack out, the elastomerics, increases the precision of the controls and feedback. A beautiful thing :p

Regarding the GT3 lower control arms, it is simply not possible to achieve the necessary negative camber with the stock LCA's. And the added camber hardly affects wear (toe does that), while adding a great degree of crispness and much reduced tire shoulder wear when driving on track or street with gusto.

The Spyder has crazy understeer when at 8/10ths driving and higher. Only way to get it out is via stiffer rear sway bar. Ask me how I know :p I am working with a shock and suspension specialist now on a coilover solution. Give me a couple months to get that worked out...lol

Savyboy, love the info you provided, and in no way am i knocking your posts, but not everyone wants to:

A: spend that much money
B: knows enough/can drive at that level to benefit from those type of modifications
C: tracks their car

I for one and not intersted in big HP numbers (turbo kits, etc) but am interested in modding my Spyder for the street/back road cruising/looks/sound. Hopefully more people can chime in with ideas/products and services/projects that can be done on this car.

Cheers! :)

I'm with you on all points. Fully agreed. Only intention was to argue the suspension mods offer as much or more performance bang for the buck than an exhaust or ecu flash and wanted to present a different perspective for those seeking faster carving vs straight line performance. Most folks don't think "suspension mods" on an already awesome car, but they offer a lot of tasty goodness. Love your new Spyder my friend! :D

Cheers! :)

Yea, i thought thats what you were getting at --- and i agree 100%. Never understood why people modded their cars to NOT take advantage of what the car is already REALLY good at. Turbo cars for example --- easy to make go real fast and are already fast - so mod for speed. A car like the Spyder however will NEVER blow the doors off a Z06 or 997GT2 so why bother? play to the cars stregths (handle) and you will ultimately be happier with the car.

I for one also think that besides the handle of this car the best part about it is the looks/style. Just an AWESOME looking car. So i plan on hyping that up a bit :)

Thanks for the post tho. I actually copy/pasted to my "Spyder.doc" for my susp upgrades that are soon to come (crazy, yes, i know already hahaha)

Cheers my friend

I would like to get it to low 4's high 3's.

It would be interesting to see how much one would have to spend to get this car to go high 3's. I think it would be a dollar amount that would make most rethink the purchase of this car and not a C2S.

Stage 2 TPC turbo kit + all the trimmings + full suspension to help get the power down + slicks to get some traction + an incredible driver = 997 Turbo S Money hilarious

...that being said, a TPC Turbo in a Spyder would be a total blast.

What a ride, this car is a blast. Just took it out again after work. Got to do this more often.

Spyder mods

Great choice of color. I have modified my spyder with both the capristo exhaust and softronic tuning. My spyder was great as stock but is truly fantastic after these two mods. The exhaust sound is terrific and the tuning has improved the low rev as well as the mid rev range. According to both capristo and softronics my hp should be around 344 with torque approaching 292. I have track the spyder twice since the mods and I truly can tell a difference.
