The Spyder is an awesome car for what you are looking to do. I daily drove a 997 C2S and then a Cayman S without ANY other vehicle to use and i live in PA and that was no big deal --- but i COULDNT do that with the Spyder. Just a little too quirky for that type of use. However, with a daily driver at your disposal, the Sypder is THE BEST in my opinion.

The car is just so much fun to rip around in - plenty of power for the street - the looks are second to only the CGT in terms of exotic-looking (Porsche that is) and the top is cool on or off (some of my buddies actually like the look with the top on).

As for being a PITA to use - not a big deal. Just keep an eye out for rain and always plan for it to rain and just keep the "main top" on - windows down. You will find that is still an 'open air' experience and when the rain comes just put the windows up and your fine. Simple as that.

Spyderwheels is infamous around these parts
Lots of good stuff here for mods. I guess it would just be choice on how fast you want to go. Or whether the stock is good enough for your driving style.

Put it this way. I took delivery of my Spyder in late September and since then the M5 have been sitting in the garage. It's feels like a chore to me to have to drive the M5 to recharge its batteries.

The Spyder has a firm ride but it's comfortable. The bucket seats are amazing. The stereo is okay. The engine is has a lot of torque and loves to rev. It's also not a gas guzzler which is a plus for me (tree hugger). I've learned to live with the top. Like others say, it takes about 1 min or so to take it down if you're doing the large piece. The 2nd smaller piece will take about another minute. But you know what? You'll love this car so much you'll find a way to justify the negatives.

+1 on head turner. I was at a car meet just this past weekend and everyone just crowded over the car. I had to crawl out of the crowd just to get some air. It's cheap (relative), unique, and rare.

Oh, the bucket seats are great. It holds me very well (180lbs) but not in a very tight way. Also gives me a great excuse to help the ladies out the car.

If you love driving then the you'll love the Spyder.
