You can't blame Porsche if they can find a bunch of fanatical kool-aide drinkers like me to buy cars like this. Well, I have a Cayman S, but there are many a 911 owner who see the Cayman as an "also ran".

The 911 and Cayman/Boxster are getting bigger, so there is going to be room for an even smaller car. i mean if you leave out all the options, that jaspergtr mentioned. options, that will cost you more than the car itself but won`t make the car drive (significantly) better or more fun then the new 551 offers a great prospect.
but what about the gay comments on the new, tiny 551 then?

You know what, I don't give a jacksass what people will say about the 551 but it'll sit nicely next to my 997tt and I'll say that's my toy's toy! Damn, my factory options and mods cost more than the car so I don't think I'll go wrong, which ever way you slice it.

yes, it has to do with those things you mention, but whether you like it or not it dilutes the brand when they continue to introduce more and more "entry level" models....however, that being said, it seems as if they are going to continue to introduce the 918's as well, so that is a good brand investment! Also, I want to point out that entry level Porsche is still kind of an oxymoron...Ill still check them out and Im sure they will be great to drive!
