Boxster vinyl wrap mexico blue
Not a big fan of one particular comment... but anyway...
Mexico Blue is sexy. I was up in north Cali a week ago and saw a 997 from a mile away it that color. It sorta took my breath away. Do it.

I am sending my car to the shop tomorrow. Will get to see the blue wrapping paper in person. I will make an impulse decision when I am at the shop. I am going with either mexico blue or carrara white. My wife made a good point about my car the other day. "Your car is already a Frankenstien (2000 986 boxster Arctic silver/ Black with black convertible top. Exterior mods include 997.1 style 18" wheels. 997 GT3 front end conversion 997 head light, front bumper / fender, Gemballa hood, 996 GT3 side skirt, 997 GT3 rear bumper)" Doing a wrap in mexico blue on such a car is just too over the top and unfit for my age and position (36 and father of two). She wants me to sell the boxster and buy a 997, M3, or Nissan GTR (white, silver, or black) that I've always wanted so I can bring my 1 and 2 year old in the back seat when I go for milk runs.
I currently own a Lotus Elise (saffron yellow), Acura NSX (formula red) and a BMW F02 7 series (alpine white). Running out of garage space so am destined to get rid of a sportscar. Can't see my self parting with the Elise and NSX yet. Almost am set on getting rid of the boxster to upgrade to a late used 997 C2S last year. But has decided to keep the boxster as my beater. The boxster has been my commute car for the past 10 years and has been running reliably with only 70,000 miles on the odometer (IMS bearing LN upgrade, water pump, AO separator, front / rear lower control arm, D2 coilover shocks all changed at around 70,000 miles). The frugal side of me tells me to drive the boxster til it dies then buy another porsche in a few years. Hence the idea of wrapping the car and giving it a new life again with a different color. Decisions.... Will show completed pics when I am done with the wrap.

Hey man, you answered your own questions. Getting the wrap in Mexico Blue is WAY over the top for you. Alot of other members are urging you on but would they really pull this off on their own rides?
White might be a good option.
I am taking my 2000 boxster (997 front end conversion) in for a full body wrap next week. I was deciding between mexico blue, speed yellow, or carrara white. Wife and everyone around me tries to convince me against the smurf looking mexico blue wrap. Although the color plate does not name the particular blue as mexico blue, but the color sample strip looks close enough. IT is a big gamble going with such a daring color. I am coming from arctic silver (original paint in good condition) on a 10 year old car. Just want to try something daring and get some support from 6speedonline fans. Wost comes to worst. I can still have it peeled off and go back to arctic silver again.
Mexico Blue was a very cool 993 old school color. Very retro. If you think about it the last 997.1 GT3RS Orange was very similar to a popular 70's color by Mopar call "Grabber Orange". Colors get popular then too popular then fade from fashion as newer colors are introduced. The speed yellow has been a favorite since the 993 (although the joke is "I didn't know Porsche made taxis"). Artic white (as opposed to polar white from the 80's) is very safe and also striking. Do some photo shops of the car in different colors and blown them up real big to get a better idea.
vinryl wrap especially color matched to color strips resembling porsche mexico blue. Is this close enough?

mexicoblue 4
The above pics were taken by the shop owner to show the blue vinyl wrap in various lighting condition. I am still hesitant whether I should go with this hue or pick a white color wrap. I must decide by tomorrow. Carrara white VS mexico blue with a 1 year warranty or stay with the existing 10 year old Arctic silver paint in great condition (zaino Z2 + Z CS applied montly). It is a very tough choice.
