Warranty + Track Events -
Hi all -
Excited new owner of a used Boxster with an aftermarket warranty. I'm wondering how to minimize the risk of getting my warranty voided.
This isn't going to be a track car, but do intend to track it on occasion (say a few events a year + maybe some cones). I have no problem accepting responsibility for any damage that occurs while doing an event.
My fear: that I'll be driving on the highway one day and my IMS will fail or my cylinder walls will chunk, and that the warranty company will deny my claim on the basis of abuse.
Any suggestions on avoiding this issue? EG: take the car to a "cool" indy, keep a separate set of pads for track use, hide my license plate/VIN at events, wash the wheel wells before service?
Thanks,
Jack

Get track insurance. Warranty claims will vary from dealer to dealer and regional manager. Look at the cayman forums to see what happened to others, but its really a case by case basis. No guarantees or ways to get around it.
How would the warranty company know you went to the track? I had an extended warranty on my boxster. I did multiple DE's a full season of Autocross and the waranty company paid for an alternator, rear wheel bearings, the RMS and cv boots. Never asked if I went to the track
