I need to be able to post pics via phone?

Regardless... Here is a video of my 1st track day besides and autoX

Stuck real well, no real issues, brakes held up well.. Was about 80 degrees.. This track destroyed a set of pads I had a few years ago (hawk hps.. Not good track pads lol).... Using pagid yellows w/ gt3 brake ducts and motul rbf600 fluid
Congrats on the car. To my eye, the Spyder is among the most beautiful cars ever made by Porsche and I still lust after it, but the soft top is impractical for the wife and I, plus I like the added safety of a hardtop for the track, hence our going with the Cayman R.

Which track did you go to?

Summit point Wva, their shenendoah track which of the 5 tracks I've done is maybe the most technical, although VIR is my fav... I haven't tried some of the greats yet (laguna Seca, road America, Sebring etc due to logistics).

I do like the cayman R, it's just that I love the spyder looks.. It actually got alot of attention in the car yesterday at the track, lots of nice comments "awesome looking car, pretty quick!, 1st spyder I've ever seen etc)... I was pretty surprised by the comments

I track a decent amount (5-8 times a year.. Since tracks close here from dec-march)... So a hardtop would be preffered... But I couldn't resist.. And it's perfectly safe with my 6pt harness and the 2 built in factory rollbars

Tracking a open top car adds so much to the experience (viceral..wind, smells, sounds) and sense of speed

I thought that was Shenandoah - that highly cambered (superelevated) section clued me in. I'm interested in trying that track, and the technical aspect is enticing (sort of like autox), but how do you feel about the safety of the course? Seems like limited runoff areas with concrete barriers close by?

I've heard a lot of praise for VIR from others too. I hope to get there one day.

VIR is great.. Going In 2 weeks to do VIR in "full" config.. I've also done the north and grand... I'm going again in July to do vir's "patriot" course in the Ariel atom experience.. Should be fun !!

I'm excited about the spyder... I had fun in my evo's and Gtr but MAN is the spyder rewarding !!!

Silly question, but are you hitting these tracks solo or with a club? If so which one?

Thanks

I went alone... Part of "trackdaze". Early June with the Gtr owners club...July I'm doing trackdaze again or maybe the VIR Ariel atom experience... I do also do track days with the scca and summit point has "Friday at the track"...

I would do Porsche club events but they don't like Boxsters on track without tops so I'm limited by speed?? Lol
