Opinion on value of Used Porsche

I am still shopping for my first Porsche, most likely a Boxster but the Cayman is growing on me. I wen to look at an 07 base Cayman today and also ended up test driving a new 11' Boxster S with PDK. Wow!!! It is a night and day difference between the 2 cars and I even liked the PDK and I'm a manual trans guy. So now Im "ruined" and want an S model, but was trying to stay within a budget of $40k or less.

Wht do you think of the price of the following cars and which seems to be the best value:

11' Boxster S- Carrera White/black- PDK, Nav, power/heated seats, etc- 2800 miles- $58k Demo sold as brand new
08' base- Speed Yellow/black- manual, Bose, PS, PASM, power/heated seats, Sport Chrono, painted roll bar- 23k miles- $33k
08' base- Speed Yellow/black- manual, heated seats, Bose, power seats- 35k miles- $34.5k Certified
08' RS60- GT silver/red- manual, pretty loaded- 49k miles- $39k
07' Cayman base- black/black- manual, heated seats, climate control, 18's- 51k miles- $28k

I need to start searching out some S's.

Your advice is good, but I hate the hassle of dealing with people. From what I'm seeing online the private sale cars are the same or more than most dealers. I could "afford" the 11 S but I just dont think Im ready to take on a $60k car since I only have about $15k to put down.

For any given model year what should the premium be for an S with equivalent miles? Seems its easy to find 08 base cars with <35k miles for under $35k, but the S's are going for $43-46k?

I would think you could get into an '08 CS for 40K or less... definitely an '07..

look around some more... you don't need to get an '11 for 60K... ALWAYS go w/ the bigger motor

X2.... I saw an ’08 at the local Porsche dealership for 40K. (I thought was cheap for the year and more specifically, THAT particular P dealership)

And to the OP. Sounds like you’re torn between a Boxster and Cayman. I personally like the Cayman better BUT I have to have a convertible so the Cayman became a deal breaker.

If you don’t care about having a convertible, I’d go with the Cayman.

I like the look of the Cayman better but I'm thinking of replacing my Harley with the Porsche and love the open air so that's why I'm leaning towards the Boxster. If I were replacing the DD Id think the Cayman would be the better of the two. I guess there are deals out there, I just started searching again and found a '10 base Boxster for $39.9k at an exotic car dealer so my hopes are up for a newer S under $40k.
