The last time I Used the Convertible Top as it was lowering I Heard a loud Breaking sound and the Top stopped working and now will no longer go up or down electrically. I closed it manually and that is how it has sat all winter.
I think One of the Metal Bars snapped.
Are there any Common Problems with the Convertible mechanism?
Any thoughts?
Thank you!

One or both of your convertible top struts probably broke. Research on pelicanparts, pedro's garage, etc. If that's what it is, it's a fairly easy fix.

Just as an FYI: I recently had a similar problem on my S. Ordered struts from pelicanparts but for whatever reason they didn't fit and kept on popping out. After many hours of extreme frustration, I threw in the towel and took my car to the dealer. They put their struts in and now it's working like a charm. The ones I bought are going back to pelicanparts..

It could be related to the pivot arm - it's a plastic ball-joint looking piece. It's plastic to design to sacrifice itself so you don't damage the motor. Do a google...and you should be able to diagnose this... you can also try pedro's boxster board... there are a few top experts there to help you troubleshoot. G'luck!

That's what I was referring to by "struts". I think they're called struts.

Found them under "struts" on pelican parts, and the same word got the message across when I spoke to SA at the dealer.

It is most likely the struts see attached image. They are about $80 a piece. From Porsche you have the buy the whole thing to replace the little white plastic piece that breaks. there is a guy on Ebay just selling the caps. In my situation the 2 arms were bent slightly.
