986 clutch help????
Hi everyone
3 weeks ago our 2002 boxster S clutch peddle suddenly went soft. There was no clutch slip and i had no problems in getting any gears. I noticed that i was getting strange noises coming from where the clutch peddle is after i had pressed the clutch peddle in. Almost like a whiring fan noise and clicking noise, but only for a short period of time. also if i pressed the clutch peddle to far down it would stick there.
We have taken it to the garage to get the clutch slave cylinder replaced as this seemed to be the logical solution, however it hasn`t worked!!!!.
I also noticed there is a very slight vibration through the clutch peddle.
Could it be the accumulator? as the clutch was very stiff before and now it is quite aggressive?
Can anyone help????.
Thanks
Darren

Update
Found out it was the clutch!!.
The following are signs of a new clutch:-
Heavy clutch peddel
Juddering in 1st and reverse
peddel gone soft
As a rule a boxster clutch last around 50,000 miles give or take (not sure how true that is, but it is in our case).
Hope this helps anyone in the same situation as we were.
Picking the car up today and will let you know how the clutch is now

well here is the news
We picked it up tonight and..................................
The clutch peddle is light and easy to use!
The difference is amazing. From 40,000 miles the clutch has been very heavy, but now it is light and very easy to use. It feels like a different car.
I didn`t realise just how heavy the clutch was before.
and now for the cost.......................
£750.61 inc vat (including the clutch kit)
It took 6 hrs labour and should last at least another 50 -60 thousand miles.
We used "Central Garage" in Lichfielfd, Staffordshire, UK.
Before i forget change your "air oil separator" if you haven`t already. It will give you much better MPG and performance.
