IPD Plenum / GT3 TB - Check Engine Light???

So I recently had my local Porsche dealership install the IPD Plenum with the GT3 throttle body on it. Shortly after leaving the dealership the Check Engine Light went off. I returned back for them to diagnose and they are unsure how to handle.

Has anyone else that had the IPD Plenum/GT3 TB installed experienced this problem? What was the cause of the CEL? And what did you do to remedy the situation?

Thanks!

Yes I have both installed and for a while now. Funny thing is that my CEL went off Thursday when I went driving and it has been on since about 100 miles of me having the IPD and TB installed. Who knows but here is the reason why the IPD set up will trigger the CEL.

The stock system is set, per the dme, to run within certain pressures. When you install the IPD and TB, it obviously is running outside stock parameters, thus why it trips the dme into a CEL.

I have noticed nothing wrong with performance and would simply click the lower right stalk to make the large CEL on the screen disappear down low so it wasn't so damn obvious when driving. That's why it was so nice Thursday when I was out burning up country roads that it went away all of a sudden.

I have been in discussions with Softronic about all this and soon they will release the fix to all this when their reflash is ready. I think it is taking them a while just due to the fact they want to release multiple cars (991 / 981 and others) at the same time and that's alot of testing to ensure all is good. I am really looking forward to it though as that's the final piece of the puzzle for me.

In addition to the IPD setup, I would also recommend you purchase a set of headers as this will really open the sound and performance levels up. I am running Cargraphics and they are just awesome! Any further questions, please let me know. Jon

Jon,

Thanks for the input!

So there currently is no work-around to the check engine lights in these cars with the IPD/GT3 setup???

I was under the impression that this mod would not trigger a Check Engine Light, I see it is a common mod amongst boxster owners, any other 987.2 guys get their Check Engine Light off?

Not to my knowledge yet, but I went for another drive yesterday and my CEL has disappeared altogether.

Don't know if the dme has "adapted" or if there is a time limit for the CEL appearing on the control screen. Who knows...

BTW - My car is a 981 S.

Just wanted to give an update:

The dealer has replaced the MAF after speaking with the folks of IPD. Apparently these can go bad, and while it won't trigger a check engine light in stock form, the new increased air flow will reveal the faulty MAF.

So far so good, no CEL and the car drives great ! : )

Not sure if you got the error code from the dealer, but i'm willing to bet it's throwing a P1095 MAF error. I just got that the other day, after the car was shipped from FL to CA. I need to figure out if something got knocked loose during transport or if I need to clean the MAF sensor. BTW, for anyone else.. you can use MAF cleaner to clean them up - that has worked for me before. Esp. for folks with the high flow air filters... they tend to let more dust in (or if used the oil-soaked air filter) and foul up the MAF.
