Most recent trip to Vegas I drove the Audi and it is a heavier car than my 997 and feels it. It also feels cramped inside (could just be because my car is a cab). Nice engine and great exhaust note but, as others have said, it's a completely different car than a Porsche.
No affiliation with the place, just think it's a great deal of fun for not much money.

I believe that I will be booking in May, very good idea.

IMHO, again, my own opinion, I would not buy a new car. No matter which one. Brand or model. I learned the hard way over the years. Unless it will be my last car or something I plan to keep as part of my small collection and that will be very customized (down to full leather interior, stitches colours, special exterior colour, etc). The depreciation is simply nuts. No matter which car it is you fast forward 5 years and the car is worth 50% of the initial cost. Maybe a little more.
Sure if you are talking about a Ferrari Enzo, a McLaren P1 and so on then yes, depreciation is not as hard but then you are dumping $1M+ in a car. Whole different league than Gallardos/R8/Huracans/Aventador/etc.

That said I would try to test drive both the V8 and V10 models and once you decide which one to get, take your time and find the perfect used model. You will save a ton of money and again, if you take your time, you will find the perfect specimen out there.

And if I may suggest, get a manual transmission one if you can. At the end of the day I do not care how much quicker a PDK or similar setup can shift. I care about the metal clunk I get every time I shift on a gated shifter not to mention I feel more connected to the car.

I agree, I drove the V8 already, I loved the 6-speed gated shifter. I have driven in, but but not driven the V10. I am looking for a 6 speed only in Ibis White or Suzuka Grey, which certainly leaves a smaller market to choose from. I will wait to find the right one, looks like I will certainly go used as well. I was getting caught up in the "facelift" of the 2014.

I land in an hour and I am heading directly to the dealership. I will certainly update everyone as I use the car. Hopefully all goes well when I pick it up! I must admit, regardless, I will be in the Porsche forums. It doesn't look as if many Audi fans are on this forum!

Cant wait t drive it, V10, Ibis White, Piano Black Sideblades, Blk HRE P40's

A 3rd Spyder is not unrealistic. I certainly love the car. Very first impressions of the V10 R8:
1. Much heavier, but still nimble. Polar opposite to the Spyder
2. Plenty of power...but very refined. First impression is that it almost feels like a touring coupe vs. a supercar. I have not pushed the car at all thus far, so much more to learn after driving a bit more aggressively
3. Steering- Best thus far that I have felt on an Audi, but not as connected as the 987/997
Again, more seat time required
4. Love the interior, gated shifter, and sound of the V10. It will, however, need an exhaust. Narrowing choices thus far to GMG, Capristo, or Fabspeed Racing Exhaust
Love the car, not nearly enough seat time as of yet. Hopefully in the coming months!

Thanks for the feedback and enjoy your new whip.

The million dollar question now is if you were to get another spyder would you get manual or pdk?

For me personally, I love a manual 6-speed. I think that the PDK gearbox is amazing, but I personally enjoy using a clutch and shifting the car. If this were a daily driver that I would be using to go to work, PDK would be a better choice. For me, I would not use my Spyder for that purpose. It all comes down to personal choice. I do think, in the long term, that the 6 speed will be valued a bit differently. In the next 5 years, there will not be many manuals around in any sports car, let alone finding thee perfect Spyder

Very good choice on the V10 stick - my last car was a 2012 v10 spyder in suzuka grey that I adored until some idiot who was texting hit it. My current car is a 2014 R8 V10 Plus with S-tronic. Never thought I'd give up a manual transmission, but I do appreciate the incredible precision of the dual clutch. For my needs (no tracking; a comfortable exotic that can be a daily driver) this is the finest car I have owned (after roughly 20 Porsches including boxsters, 911's, turbos over the past 40 years).

I might come back to Porsche when the 991 GTS comes out, especially if I begin to miss the manual over time. BTW, have you seen Steve Sutcliff's review of the Cayman GTS? - I've never heard him rant so positively about a sports car.

I too lurk on the Porsche boards and "surface" when a post regarding the R8 appears. Best of luck with your R8 - see you over at R8talk.com.

Congrats on the V10 Plus. I've heard mostly good reviews on the S-Tronic. The 991 GTS should be interesting, also wondering if they will do the GT4 Cayman. I would be very interested in that. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy the R8! Have you installed an exhaust?

Great recap! I am also toying with the idea of switching from my Spyder to a R8 so this is extremely helpful. Like you however, my fear is not being able to find another perfect Spyder if I want swtich back.
