My 2005 Boxster S Engine Failure! What do I do?

*UPDATE* 5.23.14
I forgot to mention the dash flashed "Engine oil pressure low" before the car stopped on the highway. Is this indicative of IMS Failure?

*UPDATE* 5.21.14
Apparently the engine failure is due to a broken connecting rod.

The warranty won't cover it because the engine was taken down.

*How do I contact Porsche to see if they will cover the cost? Is there an email? What is the best way? Thanks

I have about 72,000 miles on my 2005 Boxster-S and the engine has died.

Here's what happened:
-Car started making a weird noise. Basically the exhaust sounded a lot deeper. CEL came on. CEL later disappeared.
-I was driving on the highway and I started to hear a loud clicking sound and a loud vibration
-****ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LOW**** Light came on! Does this mean IMS?
-I started started driving home and the clicking got louder and it sounded like something broke loose near the engine area and then my car stalled in the middle of the highway
-I got it towed to my local shop and they took down the engine and said it needed a new engine block and something else but I basically went deaf...

I'm assuming this may be due to IMS failure?
I have aftermarket insurance. Do you think this will be covered?
Will Porsche do anything about this?

I'm not sure what to do next. I don't want to spend $15,000+ for my car that's worth about $24,000.....

My warranty:

Videos of the clicking sound.

From what I can see of the warranty details I'd say yes, it will be covered.

Unless the warranty forbids it, or has a specific dealer or shop listed, take the car to a local Porsche dealer and let them work this out with the warranty company.

Be sure coverage is going to be granted *before* any work is done.

The dealer, the service manager/techs, have probably dealt with this warranty company before and know all the hoops and how to jump through them.

Not sure the Porsche IMS settlement applies here unless the warranty coverage is denied for some reason and you end up having to pay out of pocket for the repairs. I'd fight this denial, if it comes to that, pretty vigorously though.

The warranty won't cover it because the engine was taken down.

Apparently the engine failure is due to a broken connecting rod.

How do I contact Porsche to see if they will cover the cost? Is there an email? What is the best way? Thanks

Again, my shop says the oil level was fine but...

I forgot to mention the dash flashed "Engine oil pressure low" before the car stopped on the highway. Is this indicative of IMS Failure?

I want to have my car re-diagnosed because I found out Porsche will help with the engine if it's due to IMS failure.

File a lawsuit against your warranty company. Does the policy specifically say you cannot take down the motor? If not, sue your warranty company. You have nothing else to lose.
