I did my first service on my 13 Boxster S . When I took the car in the service advisor flagged a return line (clutch related) recall plus he did the routine service .

I got my car back and it runs perfectly as it always has . However when driving with the top down i smelled a new and unusual odor . It smelled sweet almost identical to pancakes and syrup coming from my rear driver side vent and wheel area . My girlfriend also smelled it . The dealeship valet smelled it too (I took the car back) , the service advisor smelled the car and thought it was the hot tires but there were other cars in the service drive so it was harder for him to detect it. I am taking the car back on Monday to show a technician but am wondering what it could be . There are no warning lights and no signs of anything wrong except this odd sweet smell .

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated .

 

A sweet smell can sometimes be caused by antifreeze. Maybe the tech topped off the coolant and some spilled.

 

my GT3 smells like burnt toast after i drive it, maybe we can get the two cars together and have breakfast

 

Rob - You are correct . I took the car in to the shop today .
Panda - The burnt smell might be cosmoline .
