Need tire size advice for 987.1
I posted this to a couple of other P car forums a while back, but got no reply. Sorry for the lengthy question, but am in need of some guidance.
I want to run A/S tires this winter on an '08 base cayman, which will be used as an occasional driver in the Baltimore MD area, where summer tires would be difficult, and winter tires seem like overkill.
The OEM rear size is no problem, but I cannot locate an A/S tire in the front 205/55-17 size.
If I choose a 225/50 instead all measurements except the width, (0.8" wider), and the weight (+3 lbs.) will be identical to original. It will be mounted on the OEM 6.5x17 wheel.
Thus I would have 225/50 front and 235/50 rear. Does anyone see any problem with this in terms of ABS and PSM function, or otherwise?
I've asked the my Porsche dealer where I have an excellent relationship with my SA and the lead tech. Their answer is stay with stock fittment to avoid potential rubbing problems with the suspension. I've also asked a well known tire store on the net, and they suggested 235/45/17 front with 255/45/17 rear.
I'd be grateful for any experiences.
Thanks.
