Considering Making The Move!
Hello! Recently I've been strongly considering making the move to purchase a Cayman S. I come from a history of owning two Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions. I've been spoiled with getting a lot of car for my money with those!
I'm looking for a fun sports car that will handle great and be fairly quick. I know I will have to get a winter vehicle if I get a Porsche. I'm looking to spend under $40k for a new car. I've heard warnings about looking out for the IMS bearing on those cars. Is there anything else I should look out for when searching for a used Cayman S? Any advice is greatly appreciated as I'm new to Porsche. Thank you!

The IMS is no longer an issue on the 2009+ Cayman when Porsche went with a new and more powerful direct injection engine (9A1) so I'd recommend searching for one of those that fits your budget (though may have higher mileage than you prefer).
Many of the interior parts are painted and seem to scratch relatively easily so depending on how dark the interior color, the scratches will be more pronounced on a non-black interior.
Some owners complain of weak factory shifter linkages. There are aftermarket options available that address this problem.
