Well you have graduated from clueless to know it all in three posts. Good on you. Clearly nothing to be learned here.

If you cant take some good natured fun, a Boxster is most definitely not for you.

Socal,

You made a ******bag post, you got made fun of for it, end of story. Either take your own advice of ''If you can't take good natured fun..." or go watch Frozen, take a note, and let it go. Aside from you nobody else cares anymore in this thread. Do you have anything legitimate to contribute other than incredibly technical knowledge like "It was fun to drive", without doing a quick google search? If yes, than share your first hand experience tracking or racing one of these, if not there are lots of fantastic discussions you can participate in on here. #theonlinestruggle #whyihatetheinternet #thanksobama

Anyways, so now that the reasons I don't care to own a C5 are listed, was trying to just make sure the Boxster didn't have any issues like this that someone with first hand experience would be able to verify.

Well, again, your first post was pretty funny, VERY vague, you did not ask for any technical info or specifics about the Boxster, only that you were considering a weekend warrior project. That was funny. It still is. I would guess, again, that most of us here know the extensive racing history of the marque and the large number of Porsche owners who track their cars. Now that you KNOW that, seems you tried to change up the story and low and behold you are now a seasoned track rat which in all honesty, makes you a bit of a troll and also begs the question why you would even ask the original question, you should know if you have been tracking cars, Porsches are popular track cars. SO which is it? I hear Frozen is a great show, but I will take your word for it. AND, in case I did not make myself perfectly clear, this is all in good fun, I hope you find the answer to your questions, I am not bothered in the least and I hope you are not either.

EDIT, having been a multiple Boxster owner, I will tell you, there are 911 purist, you know who you are, who to this day still look down on the Boxster and is the reason I am telling you, you will need to have a sense of humor with this car. Vette owners will straight up laugh in your face. I couldnt care less but you might.

They're also still a good bit more than a Boxster that you'd buy for a track car. I don't have a C5 because I know enough people who track Corvettes to see all the issues, and I posted here to see if the Boxsters were hassle free or I was just ignorant to their issues. Plus I don't fit well in them with a helmet on, too tall, and I just don't like the room of the interior for sitting in it. I feel super cramped in a C5.

The Boxster is cheaper
After owning multiple 996's and a C5, there is no sports car with as low of operating & initial buy in costs as a C5 (aside from a fox body).

LS7 water pump (includes thermostat) & dual core radiator = $500
C5's have oil starvation on 1.0+g load long left turns, where 986's have oil starvation before 1.0g.
Never had a wheel bearing issue nor have I heard of them being common. Might be an age thing.
Most common maintenance the C5 has is changing clutch fluid, which takes 5 min with a turkey baster.

If you feel cramped in the C5, you're not going to like the 986 with the top on.

I could have been less sarcastic but I like my fun.

I watched a PCA event here on Saturday which of course was nearly all Porsches and probably 50/50 boxster/cayman v. 911. While I was there a Cayman S was posting the best time.
