Cayman 987 side skirts, side extensions
A while ago I decided to make some quick and easy side skirts......looked simple enough from a quick glance under the car. Far from the truth, the further I got into it the more of a PITA the design became. First the bottom of the rocker panels are not flat, They slope upwards in both directions from a low point an inch in from the outside. Then the issue of ...the plugs in the bottom. I could either remove them, squish the hell out of them or create pockets in the part so they would remain undisturbed. I chose the later more time consuming route. Once I had the skirt placed horizontal along the side of the car came the black plastic mud flap thingy ( that's the technical term). Leaving it in place and going around it look ugly, removing it left body lines which looked like there was something missing. Simple, let's build the skirt to incorporate the mud flap thingy. Another tedious time consuming adventure.
Well after all the work that went into the "quick and easy" side skirts I am really happy with the end results. I have attached pictures but I'm not sure they do justice to how the car looks in the flesh so to speak.
The first mold is done (passenger side) and the second one is now being sanded and polished ready to produce parts by the weekend.
I am ready to put these out to the market and would like to have a few sets on cars soon after the holidays. I am going to be producing parts starting next week and will start shipping early January, week of the fourth.
In an effort to have some of these on cars quickly I am offering the first 10 sets at a ridiculously low price.
Please email tei@telus.net, PM or call 604-329-9391 for further details. Thanks Joe
