I have both 997.1 TT and 1st GEN Cayman S. I have tracked both on Limerock Park. I choose the Cayman over TT for DE anytime. The Cayman may not be as fast, but it is a better car for DE (IMHO). The turbo is great on longer tracks if you want top speed on straights. Caymans will out handle turbos at every turn............

Grats! I'm surprised that the difference on turns is that great. Is the 997tt still running stock suspension? This makes me wonder especially with great threads about 97 turbo suspension projects like Canna's thread [https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ed-turbo.html]

I don't live too far (NoVa) And would love to get in on a few DE events.

litoria is infamous around these parts
Can you provide an update here? I am considering selling my '01 996TT for a GT4. My car has a tune so its going to be around a 100hp loss. I know the handling will be light years better - but the raw acceleration of a Turbo is addictive.

Wow old thread bump. Not OP but I have a 2004 Turbo X50 and my buddy has a 2007 Cayman 2.7 (he actually just listed it for sale here). I love my torque but his little Cayman is a dream in the corners. I mean mid-engine, what 600 pounds lighter? I'd have a GT4 over a 996TT any day and I haven't even driven the current generation of cars. You may miss some of the torque on your butt dyno, but I think you're gaining more than you're giving up with that swap by a long way.
