Is it possible to add the 'sports plus' button, and associated performance software/programming to a 981 cayman S that does not have the sport chrono package? I know that can be done with sports exhaust, etc, but wasn't sure of other hardware changes besides the clock for sports chrono...

I'm looking at used 981 Cayman S's, and have limited options, so was hoping I can update programming if i find a non-chromo car that fits many other needs....

 

Obviously there is hardware associated with the Sport Plus in the form of the clock on the dash. Not sure what else, and not sure that it is just software. My suggestion is to talk to the service manager at you local Porsche dealer and have him/her check for you.

Along a similar line, I just got a response from a service manager about adding Porsche Torque Vectoring when it was not originally installed on the car. My thinking was that what PTV does is tap an inside brake, so it is probably just software that could be added later. I was advised that it could not be added after the car was manufactured. So I assume there is a hardware component to it, perhaps the chasis computer has a different part number with PTV.

 

PTV includes a mechanical limited slip differential as well as the software brake vectoring.

 

I read in various forums that Sport Chrono cannot be added on the 981. Some people added it on the 987...it used to be on suncoast's website but i read porsche has locked it all down now. Just passing on the info i read.
