Steve - at this point, I'm not sure we are "on the same page".
Automatic kickdown cannot happen when you are in manual, correct ?
I certainly understand how this could happen in automatic though.
So why not just go to manual mode ?

Now can I get a custom PDK map that does all of this:
1) Has launch control at a specified RPM. Porsche fixes it at 6500 rpm...but that's stupid as suspension and especially tires could make this less than optimal.
2) In launch control mode: switches to manual mode after 2nd gear 7000 rpm is reached (with no hesitation !)...thus enabling the driver to control the shift points from gears 3-6. Note: drivers have tried to do this manually and it is abysmally S...L...O...W. So put the car into manual mode in gear 3 at 7000 rpm. Oh, by the way, make that 7000 rpm "configurable"....i.e. 6000, 6500 rpm, etc.
3) disables the kickdown in manual mode

When can we have it ?

 

At a later date we will certainly release the custom tuning software for ProTuners to make custom PDK maps. Right now we only have the OTS. I don't have an ETA on when that would be ready.
