Tire sizing - 981 Boxster/Cayman S

Hi all,

Hopefully this is not beat to death. I didn't find any good tire threads when searching.

Anyhow, I want to swap to different wheels/tires on our 981 Boxster S.

Our Boxster has stock suspension (going to keep it that way due to driveway clearance issues) and I'm currently running stock sized 19" wheels with stock tire sizes (235/40/19 - 265/40/19).

I'd like to get rid of the black wheels (I'm over the black wheel fad) and run different 19" wheels with larger tires, where possible.

Talking to a few rim/tire shops however, I'm getting recommendations all over the place!
  • From stock 235/40/19 + 265/40/19
  • To 235/40/19 + 275/40/19
  • To 245/40/19 + 265/40/19
  • To even 265/35/19 + 285/35/19!

I am planning to go with a 19x8.5 or 9" front wheel, with a 19x10" rear.

What larger tire combo's work well, without rubbing on stock suspension...staying within proper aspect ratio specs...while keeping as much side wall as possible and filling in the fender gap?

Would 245/40 + 275/40/19's work?

Other?

Any input you can provide would be appreciated, thanks!!

About all I can offer and it ain't much is if you stick with factory sanctioned larger wheels/tires you'll (probably) be ok. If you go off on your own then you need to find a wheel/tire outlet that has worked out the nitty gritty details to offer a wheel/tire combination that fits with no issues.

Already done.

New wheels and tires on the way.

Going up to 245/40 and 275/40/19 setup. Should fit without issues on stock, non PASM and non-x73 suspension with the offsets ordered.

Thanks.
