Giordano26 is infamous around these parts
I have a question about a Porsche Boxster 2014.

I kept the car in the garage for a year and suddenly it didn’t turn on the ignition. I got it cranked up and after four hours with ignition on in the garage; also,I drove it for twenty minutes in the neighborhood I turned the ignition off and again the car failed to get the ignition on. I did experience during the trial, the radio on and off, besides with the ignition on it was not running and I took the cd out and it worked. What issues my Boxster has? Am I going to be safe while driving the car to the gas station? Do I have to buy a new battery? I already have to buy new tires, oil change, and glass?

Thank you

Ignition switch is a known issue....if the battery is good have the switch checked.

My experience with a family member's car that sat for a year with very little use is the battery was dead after a year. Now at 6 months the battery was fine but the battery was really quite new. The car was bought new in Nov.2011 and was parked and sat unused -- with a few exceptions by me -- until July 1 2012 the next year. At this time I had permission to use the car and did so and after 2 weeks of use the car was parked again and pretty much left parked until January 2013 when the family member went to use the car and found the battery dead and had it replaced. It was not practical to connect a battery charger to the car. The family member was in the hospital this whole time (nearly 52 weeks!) and I lived 50+ miles away and could only get to her house once a week or so.

My advice would be to replace the battery. Once discharged lead acid battery is never the same battery it was before the discharge and really you wast your time trying to resurrect the battery. Then with a new known good battery in the car see how the car behaves. If it continues to act erratically an ignition switch can of course explain the behavior. But given the car sat a year mice having been in the car gnawing on the wiring can also be an explanation. Check the car over carefully inside for mice sign but pray you don't find any and the problem is a bad ignition switch.
