Is the 4 cylinder Cayman a mistake?
Is the 4 cylinder Cayman a mistake?
Just read the article in the latest email and had to join this forum. I have a lowly 2.7 5 speed Cayman with 194,000 on the clock. The engine feel and sound keeps me sane in this crazy world. If and when I buy another Cayman, it will not be a four cylinder. C.
I owned a 2018 base Cayman 4 cylinder turbo and found it to be an excellent car. I had more low end torque than my naturally aspirated 6 cylinder 2016 Boxster S. I now own a 2019 4 cylinder turbo Boxster GTS and its awesome. So no Porsche did not make a mistake with the T4.
I bought a new 1.8L 6 cyl 911 in late 1967, not long after one of the car magazines (C&D or R&T, I'm not sure which) scorned the new flat six because "it sounds like a Chevy Corvair". That was a pretty bad insult. "Real" Porsches have 4 cyl engines. Many people thought the new 6 was an abomination.
What goes around............ comes around.
