15/16 Cayman prices

Toying with the idea of a 15/16 Cayman s or GTS. I see some dealer pricing on low mileage cars/cpo and they seem a bit high. Thought the market would be soft with all that s going on in the county . I am a cash ready buyer but not willing to pay top dollar at this point. Watching some cars online to see if they drop from sitting on lot or sell to get a feel for the selling prices in relation to the asking prices. Thanks for your comments and ideas.

I don’t think there is much softness when it comes to S or GTS especially CPO. I am seeing them sell very quickly in general. These are fairly rare cars, especially manuals (which I was looking for).

The Porsche dealers sometimes seem to price base models pretty high, and they can sit around in inventory for a longer time.

just my impressions, I don’t have hard data here. And no-one can have any real clue what might happen in 3-6 months’ time. Buy something that you like and get driving would be my suggestion.

I was told by an INDY shop that buys and sells car that maybe there could be downward movement aug/sept. Possibly a regional thing with winter and snow or possibly new model year coming out?
Watching 3 GTS, low mileage PDKs. Still sitting there . It won t be daily driver and I have had a few Porsches so time is on my side, if I can keep patient. LOL.

There is already a new GTS model (the 4.0 flat six) that has been announced. It will be interesting to see what that does to the availability and prices of current 718 GTS - and I suppose 981 GTS could have some kind of secondary effect. Given all the grumbling about the 718's engine there might be a lot of pent up demand for that new one... but maybe would not affect the older 981 models.

I think there is a surprisingly big price gap between used 981 S and GTS. Seems to be routinely $15-20k between them - yeah GTS has all the nifty options, but that is a big gap. Could be that an S with a couple of options you really like would be a better deal if you could find it.

I bought a 2014 981 Cayman S with CPO about a month ago. Probably didn't get the rock bottom price but I am very happy with it.

The current 718 GTS prices have already tanked. Brand new cars stuck in the dealers that cant be moved even with massive discounts.
The car market prices at dealers haven't really dropped for desirable cars yet as they are partially being propped up by amazing finance deals and lack of volume was talking to a few dealers and they have had amazing record months just because people are refinancing and getting into newer cars with lower monthly payments. Car production slowed down and the auction markets haven't really fully opened yet. On top of this no one really knows how bad the damage to economy is yet and how quickly it will bounce back. I agree by Labor day we should have a much better picture of what is happening.

In terms of 981 prices they will I think continue to hold value fairly well but still fall as they have the advantage of being loved more than the model that followed them.
If you want a naturally aspirated Cayman or Boxster with PDK then 981 is still your only option for the moment. Like everything I am sure if the car has been stuck on the a dealers lots for awhile they will be more open to a deal.

Agree regarding new current 718 GTS. As one example the local dealer here has a beautiful 718 CGTS which has been sitting there for at least 6 months to my knowledge. It has a custom paint color which looks fabulous - but that's an $11k option and the car has an asking price of $106K. You would have to think they'd be ready to listen to any and all offers at this point, but there it sits.

From my experience however there are not many 981's sitting around at dealers. There were two (both S, both manual, one CPO one not) at different dealerships here recently; one sold in 2 days and the other in about 10. Maybe PDK is easier to find.

I m seeing equal amounts of PDKs and manuals.... I m looking PDK. Just made an inquiry on a CPO one 1000 miles away. Not paying anywhere near their asking price. So basically I m testing the pricing.
