What to make a GT4 track ready?
What to make a GT4 track ready?
OK.....let me confess my ignorance on Caymans and GT4s but maybe someone can just throw a few things at me that will, at least, get my mind working.
The context is.....I'm fortunate to have some nice cars and the DE track car is a well-sorted 996 Turbo.....currently with a blown engine
.
If I was able to source a GT4.....and I wanted to outfit it minimally with 6-point harness and roll bar.....what are you boys doing for that?
I'm assuming that even the GT4 Sport Buckets do not accommodate sub belts?......but again, I'm ignorant.
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any more GT4 knowledge than you do but I do have track knowledge….unless your existing seats have holes for the upper harness you need racing seats….even with a proper roll bar (please do not use a harness bar as it will get you killed in a rollover) unless the seats have holes for the top belts they will slip right around a sport seat. If your seats have eyeholes for the top belts they likely have a hole for a sub belt, although you may have to switch cushions. Just please use a proper combination of racing seat, roll bar (no harness bar as they will kill you in a roll over if you have a racing seat and harness) and 5 point or 6 point harness. Now you are ready to race as safe as you can make it short of a full cage.
Yep....understand all you point out....as my current track car (w/blown motor) is fitted with all.....and, I know all that is involved w/any 911....but am ignorant as to how to (specifically) accomplish the same on a GT4. Thanks.
I don't have one either but have shopped track-ready GT4s since late 2019. The popular harnesses are definitely Schroth, and roll bars like Cantrell, GMG, Tarett, CMS, etc. Peruse the for sale ads and see what the hot cars have.
Otherwise, the typical bolt-on package will include IDP plenum & GT3 throttle body, headers, tune, rear toe links, and either camber plates or "GT3" lower control arms for more camber. After that you really start spending $.

There is a great wiki on the 981 GT4 rennlist forum at the top.
i found the car great straight out of the dealer with Cup 2s. But i have a euro car with cage and harness.
to get good camber you need camber plates up front (porsche motorsport) as just using spacers at the bottom moves caster and position of wheel. Rears just needs spacers. But you will need porsche motorsports rear toe links to set toe in and reduce instability under v hard braking.
i now run dundon headers, gt3 exhaust, intake, 18” wheels with 997 cup front calipers and am currently having the Manthey Racing KW shocks fitted.
as the previous poster said you can spend a lot of money but it’s a great car in stock form at any track!
