07 boxster and boxster s ; same block?

Anybody knoes if the 2.7, 3.2, 3.4 share the same block?

Yes.. all M96/97 block. Shared with the 911 Carrera as well. Only the GT3 and Turbo have the old external dry sump, split crank case engine block ($50K for a crate motor!).

The block is the same on every engine?
Where do they come up with such huge displacement differences? Prob a newb Q.

Unfortunately, yes, they do use the same block! This is why I think that the Boxster and Cayman are actually great deals compared to a 911 Carrera 2/4 (S).

The engine blocks come from the same manufacturer, and then are assembled at different Porsche factories (Germany for the 911 and Finland for Boxster/Cayman).

The GT3 and Turbo use the expensive GT1 block, and have a true dry-sump, external reservoir.
