As I understand it, the only way to get a factory CPO warranty for a car that you own would be to persuade a dealer to engage in a paper transaction whereby he purchases the car form you, certifies it through PCNA (dealer cost is $1600 to PCNA to certify car), and then sells it back to you (probably at the sale price plus $2k so that he comes away with something for his trouble).

There are plenty of aftermarket warranty companies, but they come with a certain level of risk. If you do a few searches on this forum you will get plenty of info on this question.

when i bought my car (new from the dealer), the dealer offered an extended warranty. i don't know if the warranty was thru porsche or third party. i do recall that the cost of this warranty went up as the car got closer to the end of the factory warranty.

like GBG said, there are third party warranties out there. the CPO route would be interesting way to go too, but i don't know if the dealer would be willing to go thru the hassle. also, the terms & cost of the CPO may not be as favorable as buying an extended warranty.

I bought a 3rd party warranty for my X5, it has worked out very well, they work seamlessly with my dealer. Check which company your dealer suggests and will work with.

recently bought extended warranty for our range rover through the dealership, from Land Rover Warranty and its as easy as a vehicle check up then just pay it. probably the same through porsche as well. Porsche dealerships will sell you a extended warranty no problem.
