Unhappy Cayenne Front end creating smoke

Hello Fellas,

I have a CS and i was getting some strange scents from the interior when the heat was on say 70 degrees or so...like a burning i would lower the temp control to 66 degrees and still an odd scent. So i pulled into my driveway last nite and notice the front end was actually smoking not stream but a gray smoke ...i turned the vehicle off right away..called the dealer...any ideas what this could be its rather odd.

Guages all seem to be in order no overheating signs or other issues.

ideas? thoughts? concerns? suggestions?

Thanks in advance
a concerned driver

If it doesn't smell like oil burning, it could be electrical. If you've updated your lights with higher wattage bulbs and did not upgrade the wiring/connectors, this could be a source of the smell.

To help you (and your dealer), you need to try to pin-point the source and identify the type of odor that you smell.

Best of luck.

If you Cayenne S or Turbo is '04/'05 for sure is the water pump, leeking coolant and etc...

For all of you guys that have Cayenne V8 and hear a little "taky" on the engine ...the water pump will die soon.

You have to go Dealer to change it as soon as possible, part is cheap I think $100, labor $200 app.

I did change mine and no problems since then...

what are some other symptoms of this? my temp guage is usually always a little above center, even though its 30* outside....somehow i dont think this should be the case...in the warmer months its always between the middle mark and 3/4 line. curious to know if this might be the reason.

The temp gauge works fine and you can not detect this just by looking at and even when start to get very loud. In fact the low level coolant will came out first. The sound is coming from the radiator-bells area, and its start getting noisier and noisier until you can hear inside of the car. Start like a little takky..and then "Crack-----Ckack"..water pump moves but with a lot of friction and you will star to lose coolant liquid.

When is detected is very straight forward you will not missed and easy to fix.
