Arrow Mercedes Owner / Considering Cayenne

Hello, 6speedonline members! I am a newbie here, and judging from the title, you can see I'm new to the Cayenne. We test drove a 2004 Cayenne S and really liked the car; I do have some questions as I have never owned a Porsche.
  1. Is 2004 a better year for the Cayenne S over the 2003?
  2. What are some of the issues / bugs with the Cayenne that I should have checked or look out for?
  3. Do the rear seats completely fold down flat in the Cayenne? We tried to play around with the rear seats but were not able to get them flat and the salesperson didn’t know much about the Cayenne.
  4. Another car on our shopping list is the 04-05 BMW X5 4.4i. I know this a Porsche forum but how does the Cayenne S fair up against the 4.4i.
  5. Do the 04 models have an option for integrating the iPod, Bluetooth functionality or any integrated phone options?

1. Buy the newest version you can afford. The older versions did have some bugs, so make sure that you get the service history/records of older cars.

2. I think the ignition coils were a problem in older models. I would do a search of the forum and you'll find other threads on this topic.

3. The seats do fold flat, but it is a pain in the butt and a multi-step process.

4. I didn't consider the X5. Obviously, there will be slight bias here.

5. You have to go aftermarket like Dennison, Tooki, or both to get iPod and bluetooth functionality. It was not a factory option and still isn't. Again, search the archives and there are lots of threads on this topic.

Good luck on your search.
