Porsche North America has released its latest feature list and updated pricing schedule for the expanded 2009 Cayenne lineup to be sold beginning in mid-July. New to the premium SUV range is the top of the line Turbo S that accompanies the standard model as well as the S, GTS and Turbo versions.


For '09 the Porsche Communication System PCM 3.0 featured on the updated 2009 997 Carrera will be available on all Cayenne models and is standard on the Turbo and Turbo S. PCM utilizes a touch screen interface that allows passengers to directly connect their iPods, use their phones wirelessly through Bluetooth and navigate via XM Traffic updates with the help of a hard disk navigation system.

Stopping all models will be bigger standard brakes, with V-8 powered Cayennes being offered with optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system -- an industry first on any luxury SUV. Appropriately, Porsche has bumped up the standard wheel diameter to 19 inches in order to accommodate the more powerful brakes.

Within the cabin, Alcantara-clad sport seats and a padded steering wheel once only offered on the GTS model will be available on all Cayennes. Porsche will additionally add GTS Red, Nordic Gold and Macadamia Metallic to the vehicle's color palette as well.

Extra "spice" (as Porsche calls it) found on their revamped Cayennes will be had at an additional cost though. As with other European based automakers that are seeing the weak dollar to euro conversion eat away at profit margins, a price increase will take effect on all '09 Cayennes. Compared to 2008, the lineup will see a price increase ranging from 2.3 to 4.3 percent depending on model.

Even in such a harsh economic environment that according to Detlev von Platen, President of Porsche North America has "severely punished" the luxury automaker, the German manufacturer claims U.S. sales of its Cayenne SUV have increased by 12.4 percent in the first five months of the year compared to 2007.

Engine specs for each model (including the new Turbo S) have yet to be set in stone, but we'll be sure to keep you up to date once we get the word.

i just closed on my 08 GTS, so i hope the 09 just got more expensive!!!
