Any of you getting more than 15mpg on your GTS?

I noticed that gas gets better the more miles on Porsche but I am wondering if anyone is able to get more than 15mpg.. Its kind of weird I dont know how accurate that is.

My 04 Cayenne S is reading 11-12, 14 at the most. I'm not sure how accurate the reading are either.

i know i COULD get more than 15 if I drove with less gas pedal...

Jace Jun 29, 2008 02:25 PM

nope.
14.5 most ever on a tank.
that was using the manual, and using the paddles to shift into each gear earlier and hold the higher gears longer.

this GTS does eat gas:

but the engine free rev and the sound etc is the real cause; gas consumption is only an effect.

ECU, Bypass pipe and shifting at 4000 rpm

12 - 15 if im luckkyyy

Bad news guys, the readings are NEVER accurate, it is just calculating your current mpg ratio. If you write down your mileage when you fill your tank and calculate the mileage on your next filling, you'll see that a guy like me who frequently floors the pedal, gets only 9 mpg with Cayenne S

Yea that is what I was thinking actually. 15mpg is actually really good for a SUV.

Lets see who can get the best gas mileage on there cayenne lol

Driving with cruse control and minimal throttle smashing I got 19.7 on the HWY this weekend. The most I was getting when with 0-2000 miles on it was 18mpg on the hwy with cruse control. So I think the mpg has gone up now that Im at 3000 miles.

nicolasmora Jun 30, 2008 08:14 AM

12.3 MPG. Based on last fill up and miles traveled.

globalm3 Jun 30, 2008 09:40 AM

I have to aggree that my S got better gas mileage when I put 4k miles on it. I will start doing the math with miles traveled and gas filled see what I get.
18mpg is amazing for a gts

After a month of driving in around SF but without any highway trips longer than 60 miles, my best tank has been 17.1 mpg. Doing the math myself has yielded around 1-2mpg better than the 'in car' consumption reading. I reset it at each fill up. Worst has been around 10mpg. Going up hills in SF from stop signs doesn't help the gas mileage. :p

2008 S but not a GTS. Highway drive back from Santa Cruz to home got just over 20 MPG, no stops, but some hills. Have gotten 20 MPG on other occasions, 19 MPG lots of times. In mixed highway/stop-and-go traffic, with some spirited canyon driving, typically get between 17 and 18 MPG. Step hard on the gas and the numbers go way down. MPG numbers from the OBC. After 4000 miles, the OBC doesn't look like it's too far off from reality as calculated at fill-ups. Never reset the PCM trip computer, and it's reading about 17.8 MPG since we got the car new (4K miles ago)

Driving in Sport mode seems to get slightly worse mileage than regular or comfort setting

Even though fill-ups are a shock after filling up the Boxster and Carrera, it's way better than I expected

Like I said, this is for an S but not GTS (same size NA engine, though). YMMV

Has anyone noticed seasonal variation in their gas mileage?

During wintertime, my gas mileage drops ~25%, consistently, for the last several year.

I'm surmising it's due to a change in the formulation of the gas, but don't know for sure.
